On Sunday, August 19, members of Episcopal Church of the Ascension and Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church filled over 80 backpacks with school supplies for local children in grades K thru 6 in the Octorara Area School District. For each grade, teachers identified the supplies that were needed and eight area PCCO-member churches contributed backpacks, binders, paper, pencils, pens, crayon, markers, glue sticks, etc. along with monetary donations.
The backpacks were sorted into school bags that were distributed during the Mobile Food Pantry. Throughout the afternoon, volunteers enjoyed fellowship with one another while helping local children in grades K thru 6 in the Octorara Area School District. Forty six families were able to pick up these assembled backpacks. Five additional families were given backpacks and supplies, while the extras were given to the guidance departments within the school district.
